Meet Amanda Parker, MD

A native Texan, Dr. Amanda Parker was born and raised in Houston. She moved to Boulder after high school to attend the University of Colorado on scholarship. She was in the honors program and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa before graduating with distinction with a major in biology and a minor in philosophy. She then moved back to Texas to attend medical school at the prestigious University of Texas Southwestern, where she received a UTSW Medical Foundation Scholarship. After matching into the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, she moved to Little Rock for her surgical internship and residency. During that time, she served as vice chair of the Graduate Medical Education Resident Committee.

After completing her general surgery residency, she returned to Houston to complete a fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the Methodist Hospital. She then relocated to the Washington, DC, metro area for a position at a private hospital with a Georgetown Affiliation. There, she performed both general and bariatric surgery and worked with general surgery residents, medical students, and PA students.

Dr. Parker has recently returned to Texas and is excited to be joining the University of Texas system. She believes in a patient-focused approach, understanding that every patient is unique and should be treated as such. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is currently an associate fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the Texas Medical Association, and the Harris County Medical Society.
